A blonde woman visited her doctor for a follow-up appointment after receiving a prescription for birth control pills.
The doctor smiled as he checked her file.
“So, how are the pills working for you?” he asked.
“Have you noticed any problems?”
The woman nodded thoughtfully.
“Well, everything seems fine so far, Doctor. I just have one small request.”
“Of course,” he replied.
“What would you like to change? Would you prefer a different brand or perhaps a different dosage?”
She shook her head.
“No, I just need them to be bigger.”
The doctor looked puzzled.
“Bigger? Do you mean you need a stronger dose?”
“No,” she insisted. “I mean physically bigger!”
The doctor blinked in surprise.
“May I ask why you want larger pills? These are already a standard size.”
The woman sighed as if the answer were perfectly obvious.
“Because the ones you gave me keep falling out!”
For a moment, the doctor stared at her in complete silence.
Then he gently put down his pen and explained that birth control pills are meant to be swallowed, not used in the way she apparently imagined.
The woman looked embarrassed.
“Oh! Well, that explains why the instructions said to take them by mouth!”
The doctor smiled politely.
“Exactly. And next time, if a medicine seems confusing, just ask me before trying to use it.”
She nodded and stood up to leave.
At the door, she turned around and asked one last question:
“Doctor, could you also make my vitamins bigger? Those keep falling out of my purse!”
