A little girl asked her mother
One afternoon, a curious little girl was sitting with her mother when she suddenly asked a big question.
“Mom, how did people come into the world?”
Her mother smiled and gave her an answer she thought the little girl would understand.
“Well, sweetheart, according to our family’s beliefs, God created Adam and Eve, and they had children. Over many generations, the human family grew until people lived all over the world.”
The little girl thought about this for a while.
A couple of days later, she was having breakfast with her father and decided to ask him the same question.
“Dad, how did humans come into the world?”
Her father gave a completely different explanation.
“Scientists explain that humans and modern apes share a common ancestor, and humans developed through a very long process of evolution.”
The girl looked puzzled.
Later, she went back to her mother.
“Mom, I’m confused. You told me one explanation, but Dad gave me a completely different one. Which one is right?”
Her mother smiled and said, “Oh, there’s no need to be confused, dear. I was telling you about my side of the family, and your father was telling you about his!”
The little girl thought for a moment, then slowly nodded.
“I think I understand now.”
Her mother smiled.
The girl added, “So I guess I know which family reunion I should skip this year!”
Her mother laughed and said, “Just remember, sweetheart family history is complicated enough without asking too many questions at dinner!”
