A young woman was preparing a delicious ham dinner for her family.

Before placing the ham in the baking pan, she carefully sliced off one end.

Her daughter watched with curiosity and asked, “Mom, why did you cut off the end of the ham?”

Her mother paused and admitted, “Honestly, I’m not sure. Grandma always did it that way, so I assumed it was part of the recipe!”

Later, the young woman called her mother and asked the same question.

Her mother laughed and replied, “I really don’t know either! That’s exactly how my mother always prepared it.”

A few weeks later, during a visit to her grandmother, the young woman finally decided to solve the mystery once and for all.

“Grandma, why have you always cut the end off the ham before baking it?”
