A man was driving home after spending

One evening, a man was driving home after spending a little too much time at the local pub.

His driving was far from perfect, and his car was wandering from one side of the road to the other.

A police officer noticed the unusual driving and pulled him over.

“Good evening,” the officer said.

“Where have you been tonight?”

The man smiled and replied, “I’ve just come from the pub.”

The officer looked at him carefully and said, “It certainly looks like you’ve had a few drinks.”

“I suppose I did,” the man admitted.

The officer sighed and continued,

“Sir, do you realize that a few intersections ago, your wife actually fell out of your car?”

The man’s eyes suddenly widened with relief.

“Oh, thank goodness!” he exclaimed.

The officer looked puzzled.

“Thank goodness? Why?”

The man smiled and said, “For a moment, I thought I had gone deaf!”

The officer stood there silently, wondering whether the man’s driving—or his sense of humor—was the bigger problem that evening.
