Ralph came home very tired one night

Ralph came home very tired one night, climbed into bed beside his sleeping wife, and quickly fell into a deep sleep.

A few moments later, he found himself standing at a huge golden gate.

St. Peter was waiting for him.

“Ralph,” St. Peter said, “I’m afraid you’ve passed away in your sleep.”

Ralph looked shocked.

“What? That can’t be right! I’ve still got so much to do. Please, send me back!”

St. Peter sighed.

“I can give you another chance, but there’s only one option. You must return as an animal.”

Ralph thought for a moment.

“Fine! Send me back as a chicken on a peaceful farm near my home.”

Suddenly, everything went dark.

When Ralph opened his eyes, he was covered in feathers and standing in a chicken coop.

A friendly rooster walked over.

“Welcome! You must be the new hen. How are you settling in?”

Ralph looked confused.

“Pretty well, but I have this strange feeling in my stomach. It feels like something is about to happen!”

The rooster smiled.

“Relax. You’re about to lay your first egg. Just take it easy.”

Ralph followed his advice.

A few moments later, an egg appeared.

Ralph was amazed.

“I did it!”

Soon, another egg appeared.

“This is incredible!”

Just as Ralph was preparing to lay another one, he suddenly felt a tremendous smack on the back of his head.

He opened his eyes and heard his wife shouting:

“RALPH! WAKE UP! You’ve been dreaming about chickens all night—and you just kicked the blankets onto the floor!”

Ralph blinked sleepily.

“What happened?”

His wife sighed.

“I don’t know what you were dreaming about, but apparently you were having the time of your life!”

Ralph looked at the clock and shook his head.

“Well, at least I finally found a job where I was really good at laying eggs!”
