A businessman stepped into an office

A businessman stepped into an office building’s elevator one Thursday morning.

A cheerful blonde woman was already standing inside, smiling as the doors closed.

Trying to be friendly, she turned toward him and said brightly, “T-G-I-F!”

The businessman glanced at her and replied, “S-H-I-T.”

She looked slightly confused but assumed he was playing along.

A few floors passed, and she tried again with an even bigger smile.

“T-G-I-F!”

Once again, the businessman nodded politely and answered, “S-H-I-T.”

The woman wondered whether he understood her, so she decided to explain the abbreviation.

“T-G-I-F,” she said enthusiastically. “It stands for Thank Goodness It’s Friday! You know, the weekend is almost here!”

The businessman finally understood why she kept repeating those four letters.

He smiled apologetically and decided it was his turn to explain.

“Oh, I know what TGIF means,” he said. “I just thought I’d share my own little abbreviation with you.”

The woman leaned forward curiously.

“What does S-H-I-T stand for?”

The businessman gave her a friendly smile and delivered the punchline:

“Sorry, Honey, It’s Thursday!”

The elevator doors opened, and the woman stepped out laughing.

The businessman continued to his floor, pleased that he had managed to turn an ordinary elevator ride into a memorable conversation.
