The owner asked blonde secretary

The owner of a busy golf course was sitting in his office one afternoon, trying to figure out a bill that involved a rather confusing percentage calculation.

After staring at the numbers for several minutes, he decided it was time to ask his blonde secretary for help.

She was cheerful, confident, and always ready to offer an opinion, even when nobody had asked for one.

He looked up from his paperwork and said, “I have a quick question for you. If I gave you $20,000 and then took away 14 percent, how much would you take off?”

The secretary paused and thought carefully.

She glanced at the calculator on his desk, then looked back at him with a knowing smile.

The owner waited patiently, expecting her to calculate the percentage and give him a sensible answer.

Instead, she straightened her shoulders and replied confidently, “Everything but my earrings!”

The owner stared at her in complete disbelief.

He had been asking about a financial deduction, but she thought he was talking about what she would take off if someone offered her $20,000!

After a long pause, he slowly turned back toward his paperwork.

From that day on, whenever the golf course owner needed help with percentages, he reached for his calculator first and saved his secretary for questions that didn’t involve mathematics!
