A family sat down together for dinner
One evening, a family sat down together for dinner.
Everything was going smoothly until their young son noticed a serving of broccoli on his plate.
“I’m not eating that!” the boy announced, pushing the green vegetables away.
“Eat your broccoli,” his mother insisted.
“No!” he replied stubbornly.
His father decided to try a different approach.
He leaned toward the boy and whispered something quietly into his ear.
Suddenly, the boy picked up his fork, ate every piece of broccoli on his plate, and hurried off to his bedroom.
His wife stared at her husband in amazement.
“What on earth did you say to him?” she asked.
The father smiled proudly. “I told him that if he didn’t eat his broccoli, his little fellow wouldn’t grow!”
His wife’s expression changed instantly.
She stood up and gave her husband a sharp slap.
“Ouch!” he exclaimed, rubbing his cheek. “What was that for?”
She glared at him and shouted:
“FOR NOT EATING YOUR BROCCOLI WHEN YOU WERE A CHILD!”
The husband suddenly realized that his clever parenting trick had uncovered a family mystery he would have been much happier leaving alone!
