The widow and the mule for sale

Once upon a time, there was a woman married to a man named Steve, who had a habit of complaining about absolutely everything.

Nothing ever pleased him, and even the smallest inconvenience could turn into a long argument.

One day, Steve went down to the creek with his mule.

As usual, he kept grumbling and criticizing everything around him until the poor animal finally lost its patience.

The mule kicked him, and Steve sadly died.

At his funeral, something unusual caught the minister’s attention.

Whenever a man walked past the widow, she nodded her head yes. But whenever a woman passed by, she shook her head no.

Confused, the minister finally asked, “Why do you nod yes to the men and shake your head no to the women?”

The widow explained, “When the men pass by, they tell me how sorry they feel for me, and I’m saying, ‘Yes, I’ll be all right.’ But when the women walk past, they ask me if the mule is for sale!”

Apparently, even at a funeral, some people know exactly what they want to buy!
