One day little Johnny approached his father

One day, little Johnny approached his father with an important birthday request.

“Dad, could you buy me a bicycle that costs $200 for my birthday?”

His father sighed and replied, “Johnny, we still owe $80,000 on our house! You want me to spend money on a bicycle right now? Let’s talk about it at Christmas.”

When Christmas finally arrived, Johnny asked about the bicycle again.

His father shook his head. “Son, that mortgage is still hanging over us. I’m afraid you’ll have to wait a little longer.”

Two days later, Johnny was spotted walking out of the house with all his belongings packed into a suitcase. His father was shocked and hurried after him.

“Johnny! Where are you going, son? Why are you leaving home?”

Johnny stopped, looked at his father seriously, and explained, “Yesterday, I walked past your bedroom and heard you say you were pulling out. Then Mom told you to wait because she was coming, too!”

He tightened his grip on his suitcase and added, “Well, I’ll be darned if I’m staying here to pay an $80,000 mortgage all by myself!”
