A blonde walks into an empty bar

On New Year’s Eve, a blonde woman walked into a nearly empty bar.

She looked a little sad and approached the bartender with a hopeful smile.

“Excuse me,” she said. “Could I please use your phone to wish my family in St. Louis a Happy New Year?”

The bartender shook his head sympathetically.

“I’m sorry, but long-distance calls are pretty expensive tonight. You’ll need to pay a couple of dollars.”

“Oh, no!” the blonde exclaimed.

“I don’t have any money with me. This is my first New Year’s Eve away from my family, and I really wanted to hear their voices.”

The bartender thought for a moment before coming up with an unusual solution.

“Don’t worry,” he said. “Come around behind the bar. I think I can help you make that call.”

Excited, the blonde hurried over.

The bartender pointed toward a strange-looking device on the counter and said, “All right, just speak directly into this, and your family should hear you.”

The blonde leaned forward, placed her mouth near the device, and called out as loudly as she could:

“Hello, Mom? It’s me! Happy New Year! Can you hear me?”

The bartender burst out laughing.

The device was nothing more than a silly novelty telephone, and the blonde had fallen for the prank.

She looked up at him and sighed, “Well, I certainly hope the real phone works better than your customer service!” 😂
