A farmer buys a young rooster
A farmer buys a young rooster and brings him home.
The moment he enters the yard, the rooster gets to work and impresses the farmer by keeping all 150 hens busy.
By lunchtime, he’s at it again.
The farmer starts getting concerned.
The next morning, the rooster is running around the farmyard, chasing after the hens, ducks, turkeys, and practically anything that moves.
By afternoon, the farmer looks outside and sees the rooster lying flat on the ground, eyes closed, with vultures circling overhead.
“Oh no!” the farmer says. “I told you to slow down! Now you’ve worked yourself to death!”
Suddenly, the rooster opens one eye, looks up at the vultures, and whispers:
Shhh… I’m just waiting for them to get closer.
