A man walked into a fancy restaurant

A man walked into a fancy restaurant one evening and was shown to his table.

The place was elegant, the menu was impressive, and the waitstaff were known for their excellent service.

A cheerful waitress soon approached him with a notepad.

“Good evening, sir! Are you ready to order?”

The man picked up the menu and began reading carefully.

Unfortunately, the restaurant had several unfamiliar dishes, and one particular item caught his attention.

He looked up at the waitress and confidently said, “I’d like a quickie, please.”

The waitress stared at him in disbelief.

“Excuse me?” she asked.

“A quickie,” he repeated, pointing vaguely at the menu.

Clearly offended, she turned around and walked away without taking his order.

A few minutes later, she returned, determined to remain professional.

“Sir, may I take your order now?”

The man smiled politely.

“Yes, please. I’ll have a quickie.”

This time, the waitress slammed her notepad onto the table.

“Sir, that is absolutely inappropriate!”

The man looked completely confused.

Just then, a gentleman seated at the next table leaned over and whispered, “My friend, I think I know what’s happening.”

The man turned toward him.

“What do you mean?”

The gentleman pointed to the menu and quietly explained:

“It’s pronounced ‘quiche’ a delicious French egg pie, not what you’ve been asking that poor waitress for!”

The man looked down at the menu, turned bright red, and quickly corrected himself.

“One quiche, please!”

The waitress returned, took his order, and walked away smiling.

The gentleman at the next table chuckled.

“Remember, my friend, in a fancy restaurant, mispronouncing the menu can cost you more than just your dignity!”
