The old lady at heaven gates

An elderly woman passed away peacefully and soon found herself standing at the Pearly Gates of Heaven.

Saint Peter greeted her warmly and began explaining how everything worked in her new home.

Suddenly, a terrible scream echoed through the clouds.

The old woman jumped.

“Goodness gracious! What was that?”

Saint Peter smiled calmly.

“Oh, don’t worry. That’s just someone getting her angel wings fitted. The process can be a little uncomfortable.”

The woman looked nervous but continued chatting with him.

A few minutes later, another ear-splitting scream rang out.

She grabbed Saint Peter’s arm. “And what on earth was THAT?”

“Nothing to worry about,” he assured her.

“That person is having her halo fitted. A little adjustment is sometimes necessary.”

The old woman took a deep breath and shook her head.

“Well, I don’t think Heaven is the place for me. I’m going straight to the other place!”

Saint Peter looked shocked.

“But surely you know how unpleasant things can be down there!”

The woman smiled confidently and adjusted her handbag.

“My dear Saint Peter, at my age, I’ve already survived uncomfortable shoes, noisy neighbors, three husbands, and years of waiting in government offices.”

She turned toward the exit.

“If I’m going to spend eternity somewhere, I’d rather choose the place that doesn’t require an appointment for every little adjustment!”

Saint Peter watched her walk away and muttered, “After all these centuries, I still can’t compete with a woman who has made up her mind!”
