The fishing trip twenty years later

Two college friends decided to spend a weekend camping in the woods.

While exploring the area, they discovered a beautiful little brook filled with trout.

They spent the entire day fishing, laughing, and enjoying the peaceful surroundings.

It turned out to be one of the best fishing trips they had ever experienced.

That evening, while sitting around their campfire, they made a promise.

“Twenty years from now,” one of them said, “let’s come back to this exact spot and do it all over again.”

His friend agreed.

“Absolutely. Same place, same fishing trip!”

Twenty years passed.

Life became busy, careers changed, and families grew, but eventually, the two old friends kept their promise.

They met again, packed their fishing gear, and traveled back into the woods.

After walking for a while, they reached a beautiful brook.

One man stopped suddenly.

“This is it!” he said excitedly.

“I remember this place!”

His friend looked around.

“No, I don’t think this is the same brook.”

“Of course it is!” the first man insisted.

“Look over there!”

He pointed across the water.

“See that patch of clover growing along the bank? I remember seeing it twenty years ago!”

His friend stared at the clover, then shook his head.

“Come on, you can’t identify a brook by its clover!”

The first man paused.

They both looked at the water.

Then they looked at each other.

After twenty years, they had remembered almost everything about their old fishing trip except the one thing they actually needed to remember!
